Welcome to The Thrifting Gamer! A place where I review games purchased second hand at thrift stores, garage sales and anywhere else I can find them. While older games may not have the same polish as the modern hobby games, there are many great vintage gems to be found, as well as the occasional modern game that unexpectedly shows up on a thrift store shelf. They won't all be great (or even good!) games, but they will most certainly be cheap!
I will also be posting the occasional video on how to clean, repair and maintain older games that may not have received much love from their previous owner(s), along with some video reviews.
A (very) quick bio about myself. I have been playing strategy and hobby games for nearly 30 years, since I first discovered Dungeons and Dragons and the wonderful world of Avalon Hill board games. I am very much a gaming omnivore, Outside of Collectible Card Games (CCGs) and heavy war games (think ASL), I own and play most anything. My thrifting DNA I inherited from my mother. Roughly 2/3 of my game collection has come from thrift stores, auctions and the like, though I do purchase modern hobby games new and even back the (very) occasional Kickstarter project.
So, thank you for stopping in and welcome aboard!
